Local Artisans' Products at That Shore Store: Emily Arenberg

At That Shore Store we specialize in unique gifts, beach themed decor, housewares, and more. We are proud to offer many handcrafted pieces made by local artisans, including Emily Arenberg! Emily is an artist based in Cape May, New Jersey specializing in resin, watercolors, acrylics, and oils in her work.

Emily stated she “never not made art!”. She has been drawing ever since she was a child and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art with a concentration in Painting from Marymount Manhattan College in 2015. Emily started her business back in 2017 in San Diego. She then moved back to Cape May in 2019 by selling her pieces at local markets before making the transition to a full time artist in fall of 2021.

Resin work is something Emily specializes in. Resin pieces need to be created in a temperature controlled environment. The resin is then mixed with a hardener, in equal ratios, to turn it from a liquid to a solid. It is then split into different cups to add the pigment for whatever color is desired. The resin is then poured onto a surface to create the intended artwork. Resin art can be complex; it has taken some trial and error for Emily to get it down, but now she creates some of the most beautiful resin pieces!

Emily does many beach themed pieces, stating: “Growing up in Cape May County has really shaped who I am as an artist. The beach heavily influences my work as well as all of the other beautiful things this county has to offer.”
